Ryan graduated from The University of Kansas in 2015 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts and 4 years of unabashed Jayhawk pride. As a freshman, he spent a year and a half with the “Best College Newspaper in the Nation” The University Daily Kansan. He was responsible for design and layout of the daily paper as well as graphics/illustrations to accompany articles. In 2013, Ryan earned the opportunity to represent KU as their mascot Big Jay. As Big Jay he attended countless weddings, philanthropic functions, and sporting events including the 2014 Battle for Atlantis basketball tournament in the Bahamas. He found no experience that could match the thrill and excitement that comes with being a mascot in front of thousands of cheering fans.
Ryan’s passion for film and editing shaped his education as he joined Rock Chalk Video his junior year. Rock Chalk Video is responsible for filming every event for KU athletics with all basketball, football, and baseball games directly broadcasted to ESPN, considered one of the top student run crews in the nation. While apart of the team, he had to access top of the line equipment and content for production but also generated 3D animations, 2D graphics and video packages that enhanced the fan experience. Since graduating, Ryan is currently looking for his next opportunity to contribute to team and expand his skills.
